History of the Orchestra
The orchestra was founded by the Audubon YMCA in 1991 as the Community Orchestra of the YMCA. This was later changed to the Audubon YMCA Symphony Orchestra. In mid-2000, the orchestra changed to its present name and was adopted by a new sponsor, namely the Montgomery County Cultural Center (MCCC) located in downtown Norristown. The valuable support of MCCC carried ASO through to the Fall of 2006 when the orchestra formed its own identity retaining the name Audubon Symphony Orchestra. As its own corporation, the mission and goals remain unchanged.
